Checked out of my hotel room on Thursday and rode my loaded bike to Doug's apartment, which is in an area called "Printer's Row."

On Monday Greg had recommended that I go to the Chicagoland Bicycling Federation offices on Dearborn Street for maps and other cycling info. So I stopped there first and met some nice people who filled me in on ways to best leave the area by bike.

Got to Doug's and locked the bike in the basement of his building and brought all my gear upstairs. I then left at around noon for more sightseeing and dropped three rolls of film to be developed. I even managed to buy more CDs at a record store.

Got back to the apartment at around 5pm and did some laundry. Doug came in at around 8pm and we went out for dinner and got back around 11pm.

Yesterday, my hosting provider had a hard drive fail on the server that hosts this site. I've rebuilt the site from an older backup. That backup however was missing a lot of newer comments so the following comments were manually added back in and have the date of June 19, 2010 even though they are much older. Sorry for any confusion this causes.

Liked the story very much. Just started with a bike this year and have wondered about a trip like this. Quick question though. Did you only include select days in the travelouge? Would love to read about your Washjington adventure seeing as how I only live 17 miles from Anacortes.
Again liked the journey very much.

Lyle,

Thanks for your note. I included all the days during the actual riding phase. It's only once I arrive in Chicago and not do any biking that I pretty much stop most of my journal keeping as I am not a diary-type person.

While the Seattle to Vancouver trip was a lot of fun, it was pretty pedestrian as it was done with several hundred other cyclists and supported by sag wagons...

Good luck on your cycling!
